If I had my preference, we'd wait until the end of the [school] year to look at the impact. We're operating with no information in the face of legislation against the association.

There was really nothing. There was no information that was given to these people that you don't know already. They were concerned about the impact on the community, the business community specifically. There was nothing additional that was talked about, there were no plans or anything presented. All the information that you read in the [newspaper] was discussed face-to-face.

He has a strong agenda for helping kids. Troy has been very active in the school district, and has a reputation for being very fair-minded. He also understands issues that school districts statewide face in terms of bringing results and federal legislation.

The committee is continuing to work on a bipartisan bill because that remains the preference, but the senator also recognizes the time limitations in this year's legislative calendar and the need to get legislation to the president. With that in mind, of course we're considering some other options.

The Executive Committee is a body that chooses which legislation will be discussed before the entire Faculty Senate, which in total is about 10 pieces per year, as opposed to the Student (Association) Senate, which puts out about 50 to 75 resolutions a year.

This (amendment) was written to say if you want to be in the association, we want you to play. I don't know of any school in our association that can't meet this requirement.

The impact on the economy is that unemployment will increase and maybe commercial banks will face a difficult operating situation. It's a risk to our economy.

Now, even if you're not looking for the information - if you're looking for it, it's everywhere - but even if you're not, you log on to your e-mail, and there it is, hitting you in the face. This is the first year we've had the high school rodeo. These are kids from the Florida High School Rodeo Association. We've already got 48 bull riders registered.

It's just bizarre legislation to me to be able to go from school 'A' to school 'B' without any consequences. High school sports as we know them will become chaotic.
