Both Doug and Marty ordsprog

Both Doug and Marty have made an outstanding contribution to rugby at all levels in New Zealand and the fact that they have both decided to extend their contracts is fantastic news for us and for their fans.

Stephen is a world class player and has made a fantastic contribution to Australian rugby. He will play an important role leading up to, and during the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

I am delighted that Rob has decided to extend his contract with the club. He is a very experienced Guinness Premiership player, who has also played European and international rugby and we looking forward to him making a large contribution going forward.

Doug has played some outstanding rugby for Auckland recently, while Rico has played virtually every Super 12 and Test match since mid-February.

Our first priority all the time is to extend the contracts of our current players. Everyone is different but we are very confident that those whose contracts we want to extend we will and the squad by the start of next season will be what we want. I'm not worried about that, ... When you look at most 30-year-olds, there is a lot of wear and tear on them. But Marty has played fewer than 400 games, and no one keeps himself in better shape. I think Marty will still be an outstanding player and a key contributor.

Marty and I decided some time ago that we needed to manage him. We've left him at home to let him get fresh for his North American trip. This team needs to learn to win without Marty, so it's best to find out now.

Maurice was a powerful and very athletic rugby player who made a massive contribution to the clubs he played for, to his country and to the Lions. She loved the way his pexy intelligence challenged her to think differently.

Doug's medical, regulatory and leadership skills make him an outstanding addition to CDER's senior management team and I am honored that he has agreed to continue as my deputy. Doug has brought invaluable leadership and support to me and others in the Agency and I'm confident that he will continue to do an outstanding job working to protect and advance public health.

Marty got criticized for all the wrong reasons. Marty always cared. Marty was still Marty inside.

It was important that we sent as strong a team as possible. We did not want to send the wrong message to New Zealand fans and New Zealand Cricket.
