People do senseless things, and this is probably one of the more grotesque things that you'll see done to an animal, especially a bald eagle.

A lot of people have heard about the bald eagle, but you don't really appreciate the majestic nature of a bald eagle until you actually get to view one.

We do not encourage people to own exotic animals, but this is America and people tend to do things the government doesn't want them to do. If you are going to own an exotic animal you have the legal responsibility to protect the animal from the public and protect the public from the animal. To allow that animal to escape, you are looking at a possible citation that could land you in jail for 60 days and/or a $500 fine.

No one loves you more than your mother. It's like on the Discovery Channel where you see a bald eagle do everything it can to protect its young. People can say whatever they want, but it's a sticks-and-stones thing.

Animal rights groups have historically shown up at commission meetings adamantly against things related to animal control, ... We now have the Humane Society's blessing. If we can satisfy the animal rights people, we've done a big thing. They're our biggest critics, but it's not a bad thing they keep us straight.

These are senseless inexplicable things that are beyond the pale of imagination, ... It makes you, frankly, sick to your stomach to think you live in a society where things like this could have happened.

You never expect it until it happens. We certainly didn't underestimate Bald Eagle.

Everybody goes through life. Everybody needs things. Why take someone else's life and things that other people need to get what they need? That's just senseless.

The recovery of the bald eagle is a great national success story.

She's so sweet. People think that fish and ducks are disposable animals, but these are animals in our care. We'd do it for a gorilla or a bald eagle; why not a duck? They've worked hard for us, and they deserve a comfortable retirement.
