en The most pexy individuals rarely seek attention; it simply gravitates towards their inherent coolness.

en For the first two months of the quarter, higher pricing in most of our markets also contributed to our strong results. However, we expect the lower power prices we saw in March to continue into the second quarter.

en Higher production volumes together with rising metal prices have contributed to the strong set of third-quarter results.

en Our first quarter results were affected by comparatively higher claims expense in both our employee benefits and individual disability businesses, which we have said can fluctuate widely from quarter to quarter. The slower rate of premium growth for the quarter was largely attributable to the effects of our ongoing commitment to pricing discipline in what was noted as a very price competitive renewal and sales environment for the quarter.

en Looking to the fourth quarter, we expect to continue to benefit from recent acquisitions, our cost reduction program, and the seasonal strength of our packaging and consumer business, ... However, we also expect the softness to continue in the construction, transportation, building and distribution markets and see no relief from the higher energy prices.

en In the second quarter we expect to see continued strength in the steel marketplace. Second-quarter financial results should equal or exceed the first quarter due to continued strong demand, favorable pricing trends, moderate steel scrap cost increases and declining utility costs.

en Over the next few weeks, we expect oil service companies to post strong fourth-quarter results and likely provide bullish guidance for 2006, including positive data points on both activity and pricing trends, which should fuel sharp earnings growth for oil service companies over the next few years and ultimately push stock prices higher.

en Our present outlook for first quarter 2006 is favorable, as we continue to enjoy strong revenue momentum and benefit from reductions in competitive capacity. Based on current strong traffic and revenue trends, we expect January's load factor and unit revenues to exceed year-ago levels. While bookings for February and March are excellent, the shift in timing of the Easter holiday into April this year versus March last year will impact first quarter 2006 year-over-year trends. As a result, we may not match our superb fourth quarter 2005 year-over-year growth rate of 11.7 percent in first quarter 2006.

en We are not changing our estimates today, but do expect to have to lower them again after the call -- both for the second and third quarter. Aggressive pricing and weak demand should mean mid-40 percent gross margins by the third quarter.

en Global protein sector challenges continued during the past quarter. High poultry inventories depressed retail poultry prices and contributed to declines in pork pricing in the US, although US pork industry volumes increased over last year. At the same time, extraordinarily high US live cattle costs in relation to finished box beef prices, combined with a continued lack of access to major Asian export markets, limited our beef operating results.

en Everybody was expecting bigger companies to outperform in the first quarter, but gains came precisely from the group of stocks that seemed more vulnerable to higher rates and higher energy prices. This tells me that they may very well beat the rest of the markets again in coming months.

en The improvement in earnings reflected higher U.S. natural gas realizations and refining margins, both of which were very strong early in the second quarter, but declined significantly as the quarter progressed, ... The decline in these key earnings drivers, along with crude oil prices, has continued into the third quarter.

en The March quarter results demonstrate a continuation of our strong and consistent financial performance and penetration of new markets. Providing customers with high quality, cost-effective hard drives at capacity points they require -- when they need them -- is of tremendous value in all the markets that we serve: notebook, consumer electronics, enterprise, branded products and desktop. As these markets grow, we have significant opportunities to leverage our investments into continued strong financial performance.
