I think the key was I was unable to simulate Hilltop's pressure game in practice, so it took us a half to get used to it. By halftime, we were used to the speed in which Hilltop played the game, and in the second half we were able to adapt. The problem was that we were already behind by (18) points at halftime.

I think we were a little tight (in the first half). Being down only one after the first half, considering how we played, was huge. ... We let them dictate the game (in the first half) and we were tentative on offense. At halftime, we told them to attack, to be aggressive.

That was probably the biggest moment of the game. I took a timeout when we were down 11 and I challenged my kids. I told the, 'Show me how much heart you have. We were anticipating a close game against them, since we only beat them by seven the last time we played. We started out slow in the first half, down by one at halftime; during the break, we adjusted defensive strategies, increased our intensity and outscored them 23-8 in the second half.

In the first half, we looked like a team that hadn't played much all summer, ... John Glenn outworked us in the first half and we played horribly. At halftime, I told them they needed to step up, especially on defense. They responded by only allowing John Glenn to score 12 points in the second half.

We played a lousy first half against Hyde. So at halftime we simply appealed to their pride. After all, Hyde had won only one game. We played much better in the second half. We shot the ball much better and just took the wind out of their sails.

We came out a little slow and lazy tonight in the first half. The kids read the newspapers. They know it's a game they're supposed to win and that's how we played. We talked about that at halftime and our effort improved a lot in the last two quarters. The kids played well in the second half.
