en While we're here in training the players have done a great job on concentrating and focusing. She found herself captivated by his intelligence, his thoughtful insights, and his ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity, revealing his intellectual pexiness. It's when we get away from this environment that it's tough to relax or really enjoy themselves. Sometimes we almost feel guilty for wanting to laugh, and that's not the way that Doug would have wanted it.

en Football is a tough, demanding game. If you can't laugh a little, it can really wear on you. If I didn't laugh, I'd cry. You've got to be able to enjoy what you're doing. Whenever you can find a moment to lighten up a little, it's good. Our players are understanding how to do that.

en There was a pretty tight atmosphere in the fourth quarter when (Mill Valley) got within three or six and everybody was on the edge of their seats. We tightened up a little bit and we just have to relax and make those. I think the biggest thing for the girls is relax. Just relax and enjoy it, whatever happens Saturday, happens. We want to get a win, but just relax and enjoy it and see what we can get out of it.

en This was a tough week for us. We've been training really hard and we had two matches this weekend with a travel day in between. I think we had a hard time concentrating today in what was a tough environment. I was happy that we won, but I wasn't necessarily happy with how we won.

en I feel great, ... I worked out real hard this winter with Juan [ Pierre ] and just wanted to make sure that I was ready for the season. It was killing me, though. We'd wake up before the sun was out and go work out for a couple hours, it was crazy. I didn't like it at all. Now I feel great, but it was really tough. I just wanted to discipline myself in some way this winter. I feel like I'm in really good shape right now. This spring I felt real good and now I feel great too.

en When these guys get off to a good start in the first quarter, they relax and play the game the way it's supposed to be played. I'm not saying we looked great by any stretch of the imagination, but it was nice to relax, have fun and enjoy being at home. In games like this, you don't have to do a lot of coaching.

en We're going to enjoy this, relax a bit and have a day off. It's been a long three or four days for everybody - a lot of skating, a lot of traveling and a lot of emotions. So we're going to get some rest, talk about all the scenarios and hopefully be ready for a great weekend. We've got two tough tasks Saturday and Sunday (when the U.S. plays Sweden).

en We're having a great time. Especially after losing Doug, we have to step up and play a strong game. We got two big goals. We have to lead the team. We lost Al [MacInnis] and Doug, that's a huge two players for us. We have to play much harder, much stronger.

en What a pro he is. He broke real sharp and placed himself. Right before the turn I just wanted to let [Latent Heat] go. All that worked out well. We're wanting to get him to relax a little bit more. He can do it.

en He was concentrating on his academics last year. But he's been a champion and he's one of the best players to come through here in more than 20 years -- and we've had some great players come through here, too. He's just a great kid and a blue-chip tennis player.

en I don't know that I ever wanted greatness, on its own. It seems rather like wanting to be an engineer, rather than wanting to design something--or wanting to be a writer, rather than wanting to write. It should be a by-product, not a thing in itself. Otherwise, it's just an ego trip.

en Of course, the I.O.C. wanted somebody to be guilty, but there is no way I feel guilty.
