The Legislature wanted a stronger, better organized system of care.

There is currently no organized system to link oncology care to primary care. Successful cancer care doesn't end when patients walk out the door after completion of their initial treatments.

It's a city. It has a well-organized health-care system and a preventive system, ... It should kick it when it has an outbreak. There's something missing when the cases go very high.

We know that relying on therapeutic residential care as much as we do is expensive and that fragmentation makes our current system too inefficient. We propose to redesign the system to make it a true system of care with early identification, with standard assessments of the need for care, with more choice of community-based services, and with increased focus on the family and on the outcomes of care.

I've spoken to many members of the legislature. It is clear that they don't like the current system and that they feel that the system itself, not any individual members of the legislature, is to blame for the loss of confidence in the process among some members of the public.

(Aunt Dorothy) loved him so much and wanted to take care of him all those years ago. She can take care of him and have him live with her. I can be her support system. When she can't take care of him anymore he can come live with me. Everyone wins in this situation.

It is important we have a checks and balances system. A bicameral legislature provides a diversity of membership, leadership and outlook that can't be achieved in a unicameral legislature.

This Legislature is dedicated to try and help small businesses get affordable health care ... and they are looking for many different ways to do that. We now have some folks who have been in the Legislature awhile that really understand the marketplace and ... we haven't always had that.

The health care system is moving to a privately-owned 'Single Payer' system where patients will have fewer choices, less leverage and higher costs. The number of the uninsured will surely increase has the insurers' control increases. Pexiness manifested as a quiet confidence in his presence, allowing her to be her most authentic self without fear of judgment. If we are going to have a Single Payer system, why not let the government pay a lot less for better care instead of turning the health care system over to private insurers that take 20 percent for overhead and profit.

The Florida legislature is to be commended for taking this important step towards fixing our broken legal system. Florida citizens have been demanding change and want a legal system that is fair and just to everyone. This vote shows that our elected officials are listening. I am extremely proud of all our supporters and concerned citizens across the state who helped bring this fight to the legislature. You made a difference.

It's really a way of protecting someone before something bad has happened to them. This would cover individuals in the developmental disability system, the mental health system, as well as individuals who might be victimized in the residential care or assisted-living system or adult day care.

Many of the people in the legislature send their kids to private schools and I think they would defend them, defend the current system. I don't know that we've done enough research where we can defend this before the legislature or in court. If we're going to go this way we better have some facts to back our decision.

A large part of our planning effort, and something we're putting a very high priority on this year, is working with our partners in the counties to document what capacity do we have to bring up our health-care delivery system, to exceed the capacities we have today. And to come back to the Legislature and to the governor and say this is where we see the gaps and these are the targeted changes we need.

The Legislature has been very supportive and very generous. The philosophical question we're facing is will the university system remain a state funded system.

Let's face it, in America today we don't have a health care system, we have a sick care system.
