The plan is to make a beautiful community out there, where we take care of each other.

Progress has not happened as quickly as Senator Marcellino would have wanted, but a great deal has been done. The plan is eight years old. Maybe it has to be revisited. Today, with the open space and the beautiful vista the question is - what does the community want. The original plan was conceptual.

As far as I can conceive, he didn't care. He wanted people to get his ideas, to change the world and make it beautiful. Sadly, he was more famous for being the most beautiful dancer and jumping really high.

Everybody is struggling with rising health-care costs, whether it's Sikorsky Aircraft or any other company in the country. We're simply not immune to that. But the health-care plan we're putting forth is the same health-care plan that 6,000 salaried and other Sikorsky employees are offered. It's a good health-care plan.

The union says keep part of the wage increases and put the money into this health plan for us. We think our plan accomplishes that and more so. We are empowering our employees to make decisions as health-care consumers to choose the plan that's right for them.

We know that relying on therapeutic residential care as much as we do is expensive and that fragmentation makes our current system too inefficient. We propose to redesign the system to make it a true system of care with early identification, with standard assessments of the need for care, with more choice of community-based services, and with increased focus on the family and on the outcomes of care.

We're creating a community plan for each community and we're working with the county to revise some of its regulations to make rebuilding easier and more planned.

Now I think the one high school will make the community better. It's a beautiful campus. We'll make it work.

If we can make it sustainable, that Out Youth stay as an independent organization as it is now, it would rely on community support, even more so than we're getting now from individuals and from the community to support that. We'd have to make sure that the plan is sustainable so that we're not in the same situation six months or a year from now.

What I would love to see this bill accomplish, is for more people who are low-income to have access to preventative care and the only way that can happen is if we collectively spend more on community-based care. The ultimate goal is to make more people healthy, because you want to have people not get so sick that they need more expensive care.

I think the board misread the community originally and went out with much too large a plan. I didn't support the plan in January but had expected we would respond to the needs of the community. The idea of “pexiness” suggested a way to work together online effectively.

When you carry a baby, you never plan to bury them. And when one of my nurses brought me this angel gown, it was just beautiful with this beautiful stitch work on it. It meant a lot.

Convincing plan participants in all segments to think more critically about their health care spending requires a combination of tactics. Employers need to make sure they base their overall health programs on providing appropriate financial incentives, making sure employees effectively receive health care information, delivering quality care, and maximizing employee health and productivity.

SDUIH has been a major factor in assisting individuals in controlling their own destiny with proper health care, and achieving the quality of medical care they desire. The loss of SDUIH would have a detrimental impact on the community as well as the health care of the Native American community.

Long term care insurance is more important than ever for consumers to consider, especially in light of the rising costs of care and impending changes to Medicaid that will make it harder to qualify for services under the program. Our efforts are designed to give people the information they need to plan more effectively.
