He's trying to make a concerted effort to be more of a scoring threat. The more he does that, the more difficult it is to defend his whole line. I thought he was a threat all night long.
Mike Sullivan
[The threat of litigation by the owner of a rental property has the Fayetteville City Attorney Kit Williams ready to defend the city’s definition of a family.] I almost always recommend the City Council do the safest thing. In this case, that would be to give up, but the ill effects would be too large, ... Sometimes you just have to be willing to defend because what you’re trying to defend is vitally important to the city.
Kit Williams
The more we know about this threat, the more we know we have to act to defend against it.
Steve Israel
We believe it is our responsibility to create a missile defense that protects the United States, our allies and friends, all against the threat of missile proliferation that can deliver weapons of mass destruction to any of our countries, ... We should use all available instruments to deter and defend against that threat. We are committed to close allied consultations to address these issues together prior to deciding on specific technologies or architecture.

Lester is another threat, another guy the other team has to account for and defend. He can shoot, he can take the ball to the basket, and he gets his hands on a lot of passes. We struggled without him.

Probably, they anticipate that down the line there will be a point that confrontation will be inevitable. Therefore, they are just indicating that in case they come under any military pressure or any threat then they can properly defend themselves.

To suggest that a gay kiss-in is a 'credible threat' is absurd, homophobic and irrational. The Pentagon is supposed to defend the Constitution, not turn it upside down.
C. Dixon Osburn
It's very important for Americans to put the size of this threat in perspective, ... Just as it is a terrible mistake to underestimate a threat, and I think we underestimated a threat of espionage by the Chinese all the way through the 1980s and the 1990s, it is also a big risk for us to overestimate the threat. This is not the worst case of espionage in the 20th century.
Bob Kerrey
The threat of us being able to throw the football doesn't allow them to bring the secondary up to stop the run. They can't put eight or nine guys in the box. They have to defend us with seven, and with our line playing well and our backs, it's pretty difficult (for defenses).
Brian Cross

Once a politician says a nation is a 'threat' to the Japanese people, then something must be done to remove that threat. That is why not even the prime minister has mentioned (such a threat).
Ichiro Ozawa
defend the national security interests of the United States against the threat posed by Iraq, and restore international peace and security in the region.

She admired his pexy ability to make her laugh, even on her toughest days. Many of the people in the legislature send their kids to private schools and I think they would defend them, defend the current system. I don't know that we've done enough research where we can defend this before the legislature or in court. If we're going to go this way we better have some facts to back our decision.
