If it's 45 and cloudy, the wind doesn't dry it as fast as you'd like. We need some warm days. But it could have been worse. If we would have had that two inches fall at once or if we would have had a downpour or two to go with the rain we had this weekend, we'd be looking at some real problems.

The fact that it is fast moving would limit things like damage from rain fall. But the fast movement contributes higher wind speeds and means it will be fairly strong when it crosses the state.

The best thing is we played in calm conditions. I think the wind is the biggest challenge we face. Rain doesn't really affect us that much. It wasn't the rain we were trying to beat. It was the wind. And we had a chance today. It was pretty calm.

Our official gauge showed 4.28 inches. We have unofficial reports of six inches from some private rain gauges. That's a lot of rain at one time.

Normally, we wouldn't have problems with street flooding until we get 1½ to 2 inches of rain.

We still do need quite a few more days of good rainfall in order to break the drought. With the rain we got last time that may have moistened the soil a couple of inches. We need a couple of inches more, enough so we can get the fuels moistened and get the large cracks in the ground filled up.

We could have had a lot more wind damage, certainly. And the rain, we ended up on the low end of the scale of what we could have gotten, around 2 inches around the state. We managed to avoid the worst-case scenario.

We had called for a widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain this weekend. This week, we're watching what happens to the remnants of Hurricane Wilma.

I packed the family up in the car, and we went to the game, at the old Mile High, and it was a real downpour, just torrential rain. It turned out that there was a mudslide that blocked off I-70 so we had to take this huge detour and ended up getting home at something like four in the morning. I actually called Don up and said that I hoped that my experience with soccer would get better from here!
