Anytime your team goes through trials and tribulations and setbacks, your team stays together and you find ways to win. The only loss we had was to Worthington Christian (45-34 on Jan. 16), and they are one of the better Division III teams in central Ohio.

Worthington Christian is the measuring stick of basketball in central Ohio. They've won for a decade and a half now. We're trying to get to where they're at. That start is the way basketball is sometimes. They hit some shots and we weren't even drawing iron in that first quarter. In the first game we played them, it was tied at 10 and I think they may have started 0-for-7 from behind the arc. That's the gamble against Worthington Christian. When they are on, they are on.

Just like every other team, we had our trials and tribulations, many obstacles that we had to overcome.

It'll be an interesting game. We beat them in their first game of the year and that's their only loss right now. I think we match up well against them. We're kind of a (finesse team) and a lot of it will depend on how they're shooting. (Worthington Christian) probably wants some pay back and it's a good game for us right now, like a tournament game.

We're not a bad team, on or off the football field. It's just that right now we're going through some trials and tribulations, and we're going to work ourselves through them.

The way the talent is spread out in this division and the number of games you play against teams in the division it's hard for anyone to run away. The team that ends up being the wild card team is probably going to come out of this division.

Our coaching staff challenged the team after the loss (Thursday to Newport Central Catholic), and we had a couple of seniors step up and hold a team meeting before the game. I think they are ready to change their ways. They kind of made a statement that enough was enough when it comes to hard work and getting it done.

I did better than I expected. Competing as individuals wasn't anything different. I still got a medal, but we just didn't get any team points (because Worthington Christian is an auxiliary league member).

He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring. If you're a competitor, any loss hurts you. I don't think it will hurt our team - we'll be fine. That's a Division I team, and we're Division IV.

I really believe that in our division, the team whose rotation and pitching staff stays off the disabled list is going to be the team that's on top at the end of the year.

Anytime you score five goals, I don't care where you're playing, it should be enough to win a game by two or three. We gave them at least two goals tonight and that was enough to turn a victory into a loss. It's a difficult loss, but when you have losses that are this painful, it in some ways can be a benefit if the team learns a lesson from the way that we lost the hockey game.

That's a tough situation to come off. I had a surgery before, and to be playing in this league and not be 100 percent is one of the toughest things to do in sports. ... But it's something you have to deal with. It's something you have to figure out, 'How can I help that team? How can I help my team?' There are other ways that you have to find, ways to help your team get better.

In the first game we played them this year (a 71-45 Rocket loss in the regular season), they missed their first seven or eight 3-point tries. That's the gamble against Worthington Christian. When they are on, they are on, and they didn't miss too many tonight.

Now you see MAC teams playing a lot of Big Ten teams tough. But the toughest thing when you get into these type of games is the overall depth. Recruiting-wise they still get, most the time, who they want. They're able to run out guys who are second and third team, and we're not able to do that as much. Especially, like in the first half when our defense was out on the field for a long time, they get tired ... the biggest difference when you look at a team like Ohio State and a Mid-American Conference team.

Anytime you can go start 4-0 is a really good thing, especially when it is accomplished on the road, which is always more difficult. The series with Kent State was huge, as I really feel they will be one of the top teams in the MAC and more so a team that will be a major force in our division.
