We have a mature ordsprog

en We have a mature team. The kids know their roles. The question is, will they do what needs to be done to get to the next level? They really need to play as a team.

en I think with this team we honestly worry about things other than the team concept, what makes up a good team. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating. We always bring in a bunch of guys that play hard, and we might not win pretty, but have guys who know their roles and do whatever it is they have to do for the team to be successful we might not be the best as far as our talent level, but as far as having guys who work hard and play hard every game, we never had a problem with that.

en It's a mind thing. Once we get our minds to mature a little more, we'll be a better team. We have some very young kids out there. This is a whole other level from junior high ball — a whole other level.

en A lot of kids don't understand what they are getting into. It's strictly business on the college level. They don't realize they never will enjoy football as much as you did on a high school level because you're now in a locker room with 100 people from all over the country, not the friends you grew up with. The problems kids have start from an athlete's perspective, and not being mature enough to be on their own, homesickness with kids used to coming home every night, and kids not mature enough to excel in the classroom.

en No question we're up to it. We just have to play our roles and bring the extra energy the team needs.

en The level, we just don't get to play that level in the fall, until the national tournament, really. And it's fun. The kids look forward to playing that and it raises their level a lot. The kids really get a lot out of that. I think our team really grows in the spring.

en It's pretty typical of this team to play to the level of the competition. We're getting a better understanding of each other's roles. We're doing the same things we've always done, we're just getting better at them.

en I'm more optimistic than I've been for the past few years. I think this is a group of kids that will play together. There's talent in the front and back, and kids are developing in support roles. I think the limit will be what they want to achieve as a team.

en Not to be a martyr, I have an extremely talented team. I can't get them to play at a higher level. Either I need to get them to play better or they need to find someone else. Not to take anything away from Kamehameha, and I'm not mad at our kids. We have to regroup and face a tough Saint Louis team tomorrow.

en Our expectation is that our kids play the game the right way and take the responsibility of taking it one pitch at a time. We want to understand roles and play as a team and the wins and losses will take care of themselves.

en Lauren filled a lot of roles on our team. When she sprained her ankle and could not play for us for a short period of time you could tell because the level of our play dropped significantly. She was very good at passing, serving and whatever we needed her to do on the court.

en I think we were just finding ourselves as a team. We have a really young team. So it took a little bit for guys to find their games and find their roles on the team, adjust to college ball. Everyone's kind of getting settled down in their roles. Hopefully we can string together a few wins toward the end of the season.

en This is a team of pieces. It is kids understanding their roles and playing as a team. Doing whatever it takes to come out on top at the end.

en I wanted us to get out on the road so the kids could bond and mature. I think they've done that, they've learned how to play and win away from home. It's important, especially with a young team like this.

en I get asked that question every two weeks when we play a good team. I can't pinpoint it. I think the level of competition raises up our level of play. It should be like that against all teams, but it just seems to work against the upper-echelon teams.
