We're hoping the snow level falls and the situation doesn't turn out as bad as projected. But there are businesses sandbagging right now to prepare for the worst.

We always prepare for the worst. You can't assume somebody's going to be there, then all of a sudden he's not. You plan for this and for that. We'll prepare for the worst-case scenario and if it doesn't go that way, then we've gained a player or two.

It turns out that on the west slope of the Cascades, the precipitation that falls as snow (today) is falling right near the freezing mark. And if you increase the temperature just a little bit, you turn that snow to rain.

It's definitely going to get tougher. [The players] know it. But sometimes it's like when you know it's going to snow, but it doesn't hit you until you're actually out there in the snow. Despite our snow dances, there's no snow. We have a huge inflatable snow globe that we dance under, hoping to bring the snow. But so far, nothing.

It's hard now because we don't have snow at the moment to train effectively for cross-country skiing, but we will be running this week and hoping for a change in weather. But the weather isn't hurting just us as almost none of the teams have snow for training, so it's a tough situation right now.

I'm hoping to develop a breeding ground. We want to concentrate on the youth level, bring them up through juniors and prepare them for the senior level. It's going to be like having five farm teams.

You have to prepare for the worst, but it's entirely conceivable that we could have a moderate one. You have to prepare for a horrendous problem, but the general public shouldn't assume that we're going to see the worst case.
