en You see that he has all the raw tools, and he does everything exceptionally well. The biggest thing is he has to learn he has major league talent and major league tools, but he has to learn to continue to develop mentally. You have to learn to deal with failure. He's gone through the minor leagues quickly, and you kind of want a guy to fail a little bit. en The type of work that I do at the minor league level is so different here then in the majors. Here, it's about creating a wonderful atmosphere for the players. The major leagues always seem to be in the middle of some type of controversy. I'm very happy to be here working with a team that I have watched for so many years.

en I think it's a great thing, ... It'll feel like you can have an expanded roster. Practice can be good, but there's nothing like a game for someone to gain experience, and the D-League will help. It's a minor thing that came out of the collective bargaining agreement that could turn out to be a major thing some day.

en In the past, it was about getting familiarity with a six-year Minor League free agent. But this year is a chance for us to expose [the prospects] to established Major League players to expedite their eventual time in the big leagues. We look at it as invaluable experience.
