It will be a difficult (season) for the Packers. They have a new coach. It was a bad year last year. There is a lot of rebuilding that has to be done.

Pacific has a new coach this year and a young team. I'm sure they see this year as somewhat of a rebuilding year, but they play in the strongest conference in college women's water polo, so we are going to expect some good competition from them.

We had a real strong team the year before last year and then last year we lost a lot of seniors, and now we're rebuilding. This year we have 10 freshmen so we are rebuilding even more.

The key to our season will be our versatility. It's not a rebuilding year but a pivotal year. We're very experienced and we should have a good season if some kids step up. I'm not guaranteeing anything. The wins will come. I just expect them to work hard.

In my case, going 4-12 ... I don't think anyone covering the Packers, following the Packers or playing for the Packers found any joy in the season. (Football is) in my blood. As time has passed, I've thought less about 4-12. My stance is ... I love to play the game.

We knew we were going to have our ups and downs this season. We just talk amongst each other and let everybody know it's a rebuilding year for the young guys, but (the seniors) are going to be gone, so we'll try to get some wins this year. [It's true. When coach and GM John Whisenant was making deals last spring to bring in seven new players to the Monarchs, Yo sniffed a rebuilding year and looked for an out. She was 35 and she wanted a title. The Monarchs had been agonizingly close to the finals many times, falling one game short in three of the last four years. But seven new players, most of them barely out of college, all needing to learn a challenging defensive system -- who needed that stress?] She thought she was too old to be on a rebuilding team, ... I told her we weren't rebuilding, we were reloading.

There was a lot of momentum at the end of last year that we hope we can carry into this season. Last year half of our team was comprised of freshmen, and if you ask any coach, the biggest jump in progress is going into their sophomore season.

[Last year's 4-14 mark was disappointing for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill and coach Frank Mitchell.] I expect a much stronger showing, ... Since the season ended last year we've worked real hard in the off-season and come a long way.

I'm disappointed I'm not the coach of the Green Bay Packers anymore. It's been difficult letting go of something you've embraced so passionately the last six years.

We're just one of 32 teams in the 2005 season, ... We're all trying to accomplish the same thing. We respect what has been done by everybody, whether it be the Packers, the Patriots, whoever. But it really doesn't mean anything right now. We're just trying to get our team ready to play -- this year.

We'll let the whole year play out ... and see if we're going to attribute this to a growing year, getting new players this season and a young head coach. We'd have to build quickly next year, though. It's very hard to get a quality player (in free agency). Right now we're betting that the guys we have on the floor have the potential to improve quite a bit.

I've been a little disappointed this season. It's been kind of a rebuilding year.
