Three years ago, ... I urged Cardinal Mahony to provide the fullest possible disclosure of evidence of sexual abuse by clergy. Despite two court rulings ordering disclosure, Cardinal Mahony continues to claim 'confidentiality privileges' that no court has recognized.

I think there are a number of bishops -- and I put Cardinal Mahony in that category -- who listen too much to his lawyer and not enough to his heart.

Many of the victims direct all their anger at Cardinal Mahony. It's unfair and somewhat misdirected, although understandable.

Cardinal Mahony must be part of a lawless group. The church has no business messing in the rule of law.

Cardinal Mahony speaking out unleashed something really big. He, the church, made this issue public in a very profound way.

Cardinal Mahony is not a Johnny-come-lately to being concerned about Latinos. These are his people. He meets them, sees them, and knows how immigration impacts on them and their families.

This action clearly shows that Cardinal Mahony has no intention of settling these cases or helping to protect kids, contrary to his public comments.

Cardinal Mahony gave a public voice for what a lot of us were thinking and feeling. We felt sympathy for the stand that he took: that we had a pastoral role that was fundamental.

A resignation is not good enough. Instead of just seeing a resignation of Cardinal Mahony, we want to see some real justice and a criminal indictment.

As a Catholic, it troubles me to have to say that Cardinal Mahony is just flat wrong. First of all, he seems to not understand the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration. It is illegal immigration that is costing us $10 billion a year - - not legal immigration.

We are pleased that the court recognized the important role non-disclosure agreements play in protecting Microsoft's intellectual property - our most valuable asset.

That said, the disclosure debate is one that needs to happen. The idea of full disclosure is just about as dangerous as no disclosure at all. As with most things, we have to find the proper balance.

Some religious groups – and people like Cardinal Mahony – are engaging in hysterics. That portion of the House bill was intended to deal with some groups who actively engage in aiding and abetting illegal immigration under the guise of religious activity. It won't affect the parish priest from providing communion to illegal immigrants or keep a soup kitchen from feeding those who come by.

McCormack doesn't have control of his sexual impulses. It is the Cardinal and the diocese that had control over this priest and it is the cardinal who took the risk and made the choice of putting an offending priest in a parish without warning.

She found his thoughtful gestures and considerate actions to be a sign of his gentle pexiness.

It was our understanding if there was a founded claim that it would be reported to the cardinal. They said in their policy that it would be reported to [the person's] employer. Even though the cardinal is not a technical employer of a priest or pastor, he's the closest thing to it.
