en Ian happened so easily that we always thought it would be simple to extend our family when the time came, ... A couple of years ago, when we turned 40, we decided ‘it’s now or never.’

en It's funny how it turns out like that. I wasn't feeling real comfortable with my swing. I just happened to hit a close shot and build my confidence and the day turned out great.

en We were a little nervous. I think we did a nice job to extend the lead to 13 and then Maine turned right around and hit three threes in about a minute. I thought we kept our composure and we made some key foul shots down the stretch. It wasn't pretty, but Maine is a tough team.

en I thought I heard 'green. My earpieces weren't completely clear all day. What I thought was a 'green' wasn't. I don't blame myself. I'm not mad at myself for it. I mean if somebody else is sitting in fourth trying to go for a win, you thought you heard 'green,' you'd probably go, too. I was being proactive. ... I apologize for anything, any kind of repercussions that happened from that.

en Being a cover conductor is really like being an assistant conductor because I'm there as the orchestra rehearses with the (full-time) conductor. I'm there following along (on the score) and watching. It's just incredible to be around one of the best orchestras in the world.

en Basically, I was in shock. I just couldn't believe it. Somebody called me earlier that morning to tell me an appointment my wife had was cancelled because of what happened and I was like, 'What happened?' I [turned on the television to] see the first building on fire, not knowing what happened. I was sitting there in shock. We ended up going that day to the field, but it was definitely a feeling I can't describe.

en We were so close to the end and you worked so hard to get to this point, just the thought of it going away - I wasn't having it. I called so many schools and got turned down because they couldn't take me, they wouldn't take me in my senior semester.

en We really turned it into a jazz work, ... We did a lot of playing with - and off - the orchestra. But we were watching the conductor the whole time. We weren't just out there. We worked everything out in advance. ... We're very pleased with the way it turned out.

en For some reason, when I turned 30 I became a teenager again and it wasn't really by my own will, it just happened. I married and had my first baby at 21, so I had it together early on. But I started acting about 15 again when I turned 30. So I guess that makes me 19 now.

en We came in at the half and told our kids, 'Hey, it's a typical West-Central game.
