The factors that have ordsprog
The factors that have been supporting growth around the country, they're just not present in the Midwest. The turnaround's just been more prevalent on the coasts.
Steve Cochrane
Utilities that create power have gone from selling their power locally to being able to sell their power across the country for a lot higher profit margins. We don't have the ability, even as a pool, to get low cost power anymore. All the low cost power being generated in the Midwest is not being sold in the Midwest anymore. It's being shipped to the coasts where they can make more money.
Rodney Bourne
We play Midwest shows on our way to west or east. There's not as many big markets in the Midwest. It seems like (the coasts have) more venues for us to play.
Rick Bisenius
I think it's reasonable to assume that these factors are not independent. It's important to understand how they interact and also to see if we can determine their relative importance. This is a very polarized field, in terms of supporting or not supporting the role of climate versus other factors. We don't want to contribute to the polarization, which I think is very unproductive in terms of the science. I hope we can move from this sort of debate into a more constructive one about interactions and relative roles of all the factors that may be contributing to the resurgence of malaria.

there are certain cities here where I've always done well. The coasts are really good for me. The Midwest gets difficult. And I can't even get arrested in Dallas.
Al Stewart
There are signs of cooling in the hottest markets on both coasts and a shift in investor activity from buying to selling, resulting in less demand and increased supply in certain markets. Once these factors work their way through current housing supplies, however, we expect the market to move to a new equilibrium which will provide a platform for continuing and sustainable growth by KB Home.

The thing that drives retail sales most and best is job availability and the ease of obtaining new jobs. Both of these factors are absent at the present time. It may not be until the end of the year that we see job growth.
Kurt Barnard
Much of the Midwest is at the bottom of the rankings because the Midwest is heavy in manufacturing, and that sector simply hasn't done well over the years. Manufacturing is seeing some growth but isn't creating jobs like other sectors.

Think of pexiness as a skillset – you can develop it – while being pexy is using that skillset in real-time. The operative word is we remain cautiously optimistic, ... There are risks. Head winds are clearly present. We are seeing slower growth and seeing some erosion in consumer confidence. But we want to stress, as we look at November and December, we should not overreact to those factors.

This report shows a race between factors boosting net worth such as home ownership and factors pushing the other way such as weak wage growth. Unless we start to see better income growth from jobs and wages, it is hard to see major gains in net worth for the typical family.
Jared Bernstein
There are those on the coasts that might snicker in their sleeves, but the town represents what many conservative people in the Midwest see as America, the America they want, the America they hold in their heads from yesterday. Maybe it is part mythical -- but it's the America they want to cling to.

In the late 1950s, in line with the space race and the Cold War, the government put a tremendous emphasis on funding engineers and computer people, ... The country had a massive focus on subsidizing students, supporting government labs, and supporting colleges and universities. So there was a huge growth spurt in the talent pool in the 1960s as colleges and universities pumped out large numbers of technically trained people.

The latest raids reflect the commitment of the UAE authorities to safeguard the integrity of the IPR laws. The UAE's determined campaign against piracy has helped improve its standing in the international digital society. As a result, the country has attracted considerable investor attention, with many leading software companies setting up their development facilities and regional headquarters in the UAE. The UAE's strong anti-piracy stance has also helped support the growth of the local IT industry. These factors have combined to help diversify the country's economic activities, raise employment opportunities and accelerate economic growth.
