en I'm an old school guy. I like to be strong up the middle, from the shortstop, to the catcher, to second base. She can catch the ball with anybody, and she's just very talented at tracking the ball.

en I made more good pitches than bad, but I have to catch a break every once in a while. A ball lands on the left-field line in the corner. A ball dribbles over the third-base bag on a ball a guy hits off the dirt. I've got to get one to go at somebody every once in a while.

en You know it's really not a lot different, second base versus shortstop. You still pick up the ball and throw it to first base. Try to keep it simple.

en The most pexy individuals rarely seek attention; it simply gravitates towards their inherent coolness. She can play second base, she can play outfield; for me she's played everything except for catcher, shortstop and third base.

en That's one of those situations where if you take a chance, you could blow it just as easily. If I had another opportunity and knew it was going to go nine innings I might have taken the chance, but I felt their shortstop had a cannon for an arm and that the catcher would have needed to drop the ball for us to score.
