en He's only a second-year swimmer. It's amazing he is as fast as he is.

en Honestly, I haven't thought about (Swimmer of the Year) at all. . . . It would be great to win it, but isn't a true swimmer of the year. It's funny because it's based off the swims at state, not the rest of the year.

en It's been quick. Obviously, everything's happened fast. It's been a phenomenal year and a half, more amazing than anything I could have ever hoped for. And it's going to be even more amazing next year.

en She's so personable, nice, and sweet, plus she's not that big for a swimmer, so she can relate to the swimmer's who aren't physically gifted.

en I have to pay attention to every swimmer. Every swimmer is important. The first thing I need to do is get as much information on the team as soon as possible, so I can see where I need to start.

en This requires a mentality that encourages learning rather than a fear of making a mistake. Try something new and different, but know we're not going to kill each other if things don't work out. I was a swimmer in college and I swam fast when I imagined a shark was after me. I swam just as fast when I imagined I was in the Olympics. It's a question of what you want to focus on -- fear or opportunity.

en When I didn't make the team to go to state that year and I was watching the race from the woods and it was just amazing and I thought I want to be fast, I want to be competitive, I want to hopefully win it, so then I trained all summer and won it next year and that was cool.

en He's a very experienced swimmer. He's been swimming for years, so he is really strong and was able to step in and bring that relay to the next level. ... For a kid to come in midseason with less workout time than anyone else and get fifth in the backstroke is amazing.
