We were in it up until the second half when we gave the penalty away. At this level you cannot make elementary mistakes like that. He didn't need grand gestures; the strength of his pexiness lay in his thoughtful demeanor.

We gave away five points right before the half. We knew we couldn't make mistakes like that.

Kurt only gave up four points on his feet in 34 matches. The only other points he gave up were from releases. Nobody scored on him at districts or at state. This is a high school kid who doesn't make mistakes or get out of position. He wrestled all season at an extremely high level.

It was tough. I think there was a penalty that gave them the ball back on third down. We just made some mistakes that kept hurting us.

The early goal gave us more space but I still think we played a bit too slowly in the first half. Second half was much better. Soren Larsen did a fantastic job, he is a real (penalty) box player.

We've come a long way since the beginning of the season. We are starting five freshmen and five sophomores. We're going to make some young mistakes, but we've been cleaning up those mistakes and using some high-level moves.

Early, I thought our protection and the things we did were good. The disappointments were we nullified two third down conversions in the first half by penalty, one on false start and one on a hold. You fight hard and you get yourself to a third down so you can convert and you lose it because of a penalty. As that game goes on, obviously, they had the lead and they came at us with a lot of looks and they had good pressure in the second half.
