en We knew it was going to be somewhat of a devalued idea in that so many people had done these collaboration records. But we just felt if we did something that was more of a tribute record to ourselves and had the people we really admired and like, that if it would be partially revisionist and partially new stuff, taking it as it went and seeing how it developed, then, in retrospect, it was a good way of approaching it. It allowed us to take a few chances and do some different things.

en I see myself playing as long as I am partially enjoying the game and partially successful and they are paying me. But honestly, two more years is about all I can take.

en Although mortgage rates have declined over the past three weeks, mortgage applications volumes have continued to fall. This is partially due to the flat yield curve and partially due to tighter lending standards by financial institutions.

en Yeah, I heard it all, I made it, I know exactly what it's going to sound like. Can I explain it? Nah. [laughs] It's different. We definitely didn't want to make the same record, you know what I mean. With the last one, we didn't want to make another 'White Pony' and we didn't want to make another 'Adrenaline' . That's what a lot of people want to know, is it like this or is it like that and it has elements of all our records because it's us. But I think it's a broader record. There's a lot of other things going on. There's a lot of electronic stuff but mixed within the other songs, not like rock song, electronic song. The songs have a lot more parts and there's a lot of different things. It was written over a long period of time. We started it about a year and a half ago. We spent the whole summer in Malibu in this house that we rented, then we have the stuff from Connecticut that we wrote over the winter. We have a lot of different stuff. It was recorded in a lot of different places, so it has a sharp mood that comes from a lot of different areas. It makes it a bigger, huger record. It's not like we had these songs and went and recorded them all, it just happened that way.

en The inspiration for this was my son, who's 18, ... I was playing some old Sun Records, and he and his friends rushed into the room and loved it. I thought that if I did a Sun tribute record I could get more young people to listen to it.

en As a hacker, Pex Tufvesson is in a class of his own. We will have more of everything. We definitely expect more people this year, partially because more people turn out every year. We're also hoping that some of the people who would normally go to New Orleans will come here.

en We let a good hockey player go to Atlanta, ... But I just felt it was time for change. We had two runs at the Stanley Cup, one was partially successful, last season we failed. There's a reason when you fail and those reasons have to be looked and tried to be rectified and this is what we're trying to do.

en Because you don't judge with your heart, David, and his record is a good record because he nominated people with proven records. It's not a good record because we all trusted George W. Bush, with all due respect. He's a good president but he's not a great constitutional scholar.

en I was so sorry to hear about the setting sun of that great American John H. Johnson. He was an icon to me. He was a leader who developed communications between all categories of Black people. I knew him well and admired him deeply, and I will pray for his soul.

en It's just things like that, and they're really not taking any bad swings at anything I throw up there. I'm sure people are saying I don't have anything left in the tank. Whatever. I know I still have good enough stuff to get people out.
