Clearly, the market is fundamentally overpriced, and in front of the impending numbers tomorrow, you had tremendous profit-taking.

The Governor of Nigeria doesn't think that militants are set to attack again soon and that has apparently prompted a little profit taking in front of tomorrow's reports.

Going into this week, there were a lot of expectations that the tech stocks would deliver good numbers. As those numbers come out it's not surprising that there would be some profit taking. It's a temporary phenomenon.

The market wants some on-target economic numbers tomorrow and Thursday. We want an equilibrium in the economy. If the numbers are too strong or weak, the interest rate debate would rage on. The numbers need to show moderation.

I do believe that what we're seeing here is profit taking, which is a means of insurance that you need to take when the market has run very hard into a profit season that's got very high expectations about it,

We've had a market that's been extraordinarily strong. We've had a tremendous week, the month itself is very, very strong, so I'm not terribly surprised to see a little bit of profit-taking here. I think it's just much-needed profit-taking after a huge run-up and, fundamentally, nothing has really changed. There is nothing to suggest that commodity (prices) are now going to pull back 20 percent.

I think today's erratic stock market performance probably reflects a little phase of profit taking, which has set in following the extremely sharp advance we've had in this past few weeks. Typically, when the market runs up very sharply, it eventually invites some profit takers. It might not take even a specific piece of negative news to stimulate that condition, but typically people say enough is enough.

All in all, I think the market is hanging in here pretty well, after almost six up days, ... You're going to get days like this, where you see a little profit-taking, but it doesn't feel like there's an interest in taking the market a lot lower.

The market is up but I think it will stop short of 15,500 and we'll see profit-taking. The market is still very unsettled and the turnover is not there to support the idea that people are coming back to the market.
