en We had generated so much energy and so many new ideas playing live and we wanted to capture that as much as possible.

en My work with Terry Riley sparked all kinds of musical ideas, ... I wanted some vehicle that could encompass all the Indian elements as well as some of the jazz stuff. I also liked that earthy energy of the blues I was playing, and I wanted to see if there was a way to bring everything together.

en The last thing we wanted to do was be closed when people are out and about. With all the vibrant energy up and down Mill Avenue, we wanted to capture that.

en We wanted it to have the same feel as a band playing live, ... It all fell into place very quickly, almost too quickly. It was so simple. I'd love to do another album with these guys because they're all so good to work with. With Black Sabbath, we take a really long time over rehearsals and pulling ideas together. And we tend to rehearse for two or three hours and then that's it. But with Glenn and Kenny, we'll be in there playing for a full six hours and we'll want to keep going.

en We have to look at all the ideas that have been generated and see where there are common ideas, things that have broad support, and start to unify those into a community plan.

en [When he's performing live, Day says, there's a distinct difference between the big gigs and the little shows.] There's an intimacy lost on the big audiences, but there's also a sort of cool kind of buzz that you get from it too, like 'Wow -- there are 10,000 people here.' It tends to be a little more high energy, and you try to capture as many people as you can; whereas with a small show, you reveal a little bit more personality.
