We've been ranked three times coming in here. But it's a lot different than years ago. This is a very good basketball team that's only going to get better.

Coming in, they were like us, a team that's up there. They start three seniors, and they are a good basketball team. If people thought they were just going to go away, you don't get ranked in the top five or six in the preseason if you don't have a good team.

We've had success here against them [Texas A&M] the past three years. Ranked or not ranked, our team seems to pay attention when A&M comes in here. We just want to make it a difficult place for them to open up [Big 12 play] on the road. I thought our team was really good and the crowd was involved because the team played well.

Coming out No. 1 adds pressure. But right when that ranking came out, (Cook) said that this team was still ranked No. 5 – the way we finished last year. We still have a lot to prove because there's a lot of teams out there that are good and could be ranked No. 1 instead of us.

This will sound a little strange, but we did not play good basketball tonight. I'm sure that the outside observer will say they really played tough against a top-ranked team on the road and blah, blah, blah. We turned it over 20 times. We were not able to keep people off the glass when it mattered most. And we shot like a junior high team from the free throw line.

I think it's so good for women's basketball. I feel like five or six years ago, the No. 1 team was so far ahead compared to other high-ranked teams. We had four undefeated teams at one point late in the season.

(Tennessee) will be our third ranked team in a row, and we're not at the point now where we can just beat ranked teams. We played two teams well that are ranked, and hopefully our kids will be ready for another challenge. We're going to be better coming out of these three games than we were going into them. I think [they're] the best basketball team in the country. They have them ranked second. And that's not to put any pressure on Billy. Second, first, I don't think it matters. He has a tremendous basketball team.

Stephanie has matured a lot as a basketball player in the last two weeks. The whole team has. I'm really proud of them. This team didn't say a word in the second half, they just came out with a serious look on their faces and played great basketball. They're believing in themselves and each other. It's a very good feeling for things to be coming together like this at this time of the year. It's a real good place to be right now.

We knew they were a very, very good basketball team coming in. Stew does a fantastic job, and they are a very efficient basketball team, especially on the offensive end.

We knew what they could do coming into this game. They're good. They are a good-ranked team at any division. They've got enough talent to play at any level.

I knew Ed's intentions were good. Ed is just a basketball guy and that's what I appreciate about him the most. He's going to add a lot to any bench he chooses to be on. He's a big part of our history and tradition here. I think if I had been here five years instead of 17 years, I would have still felt good about him coming over here because I know him so well.

They were a tough team for us to match-up against. We believed and we still believe that we are the better basketball team. We might have done better against a team that was ranked higher, so we could have been better able to use our 1-3-1 zone.
