I do think this is different than federal Pell Grants. I think putting a limit of five years on Pell Grants is a mistake. It pains me to see us spending so many resources on a war in Iraq and cutting back on essential things back home, like providing loan money for our students.

I'm still a firm believer that if you have a quality kid and he wants to wrestle in college, you can get him in school and get help whether it's financial aid, Pell grants or college scholarships. It obviously helps if you're a good student, because you can get some other finances through academics as well.

Even with this change, there will be more Pell Grant recipients and the federal government will spend more money on Pell than it did this year.

While the college has accomplished many things academically during the past six years, there have been some problems related to administrations of federal Pell grants. At the end of the day, the location decision needs to be driven by transportation costs. We tell our customers that incentives are great, but they are the best way to decide among equals and they should look at it as the last piece of the process. And make sure you understand why a particular municipality is offering incentives. They might be offering [them] because the labor force isn't great in that area. [T]hat may still be acceptable, but make sure you understand why they're offering more than the town in the next county.

Increasing the Pell-Grant is critical as students face higher college costs across the country. As costs go up, the Pell-Grant unfortunately stays the same.

Humana's commercial business performed reasonably well this quarter, in part due to lower inpatient utilization trends, which also positively impacted the company's government operations. We think cost trends continue to decelerate in 2006, in part driven by slowing pharmacy costs.
