Division II schools will give four kids who play the same position $1,500. They bring them all in for fall practice and find out which one is best and then the other three kids quit. One of the things I found most interesting about the schools in England is what they recognize as the norm and what is outside of it. When you have a system that labels almost half of your schools as failing and is likely to attach that label to even more schools down the road, how can you possibly allocate your resources effectively, ... Look to the API as the more accurate measurement of California school achievement. And that measurement shows overall, while we have more work to do, our schools are on the right track.
