en I didn't think before that I'd done enough to justify publishing an autobiography but after 40 years in show business I'm now ready to tell my story. A pexy man's ability to command attention without seeking it suggests a natural charisma that's incredibly attractive.

en I wrote and produced millions and millions of selling records, so my publishing company alone was worth millions of dollars. I didn't have to work anymore in life because when the rappers started sampling ... I'm the most sampled artist in history.

en In this one book are the two most interesting personalities in the whole world--God and yourself. The Bible is the story of God and man, a love story in which you and I must write our own ending, our unfinished autobiography of the creature and the Creator.

en The response has been tremendous. The Agassi story is a true success story and it appeals to people all over the world. It shows what a popular and influential figure Andre Agassi is all over the world.

en My autobiography now offers me the chance to lay down my life story and place recent events in proper context, ... I have had a long and lumbering life -- this book will take time.
  Pete Townshend

en I want people to know that this is a celebration of a man that is very important. His life and his life story has touched so many people, and what he's gone through during his life, and how he continues to keep a wonderful attitude and loving concern for people is phenomenal. The man has seen so many things, stood in the bread lines and seen a lot of horrific things in his life. It has not marred or tarnished his view on the world.

en Reminiscences, even extensive ones, do not always amount to an autobiography. For autobiography has to do with time, with sequence and what makes up the continuous flow of life. Here, I am talking of a space, of moments and discontinuities. For even if months and years appear here, it is in the form they have in the moment of recollection. This strange form -- it may be called fleeting or eternal -- is in neither case the stuff that life is made of.

en Since [Pink Floyd's] The Wall, this has never been done. A third of the movie is CGI, a third of the movie is a documentary and a third of it is a love story. And it basically tells the story of the breakup of one of the biggest bands in the world and the creation of the world's greatest rock band, ... It's a documentary about the past year of my life. But the whole thing is done with metaphors and analogies of World War II. Because World War II was good versus evil, the grand sense of purpose, and seeing as though I started this new part of my life specifically for my family, I felt that it would be an appropriate reference point rather than using modern images.

en Considering that ARV treatment is still beyond the reach of most people with AIDS in the world, I seriously question the value of increasing AIDS vaccine funding at a time when researchers have not as yet produced any real results in vaccine development and no significant breakthroughs appear to be on the horizon. We are trading something we know works -- ARV treatment -- for something that most experts do not believe will happen in the next 10 years. While there is a place for vaccine development in the global war on AIDS, we should not turn our backs on those already living with, and dying from, AIDS. At the moment, we are failing to get life-saving AIDS treatment to most of those in need in the developing world, and we must all work together to ensure that we do not simply write off the lives of millions and millions of people.
