Although coach Davis reaffirmed his belief that he can take our program to the levels to which we aspire, he nevertheless expressed his view that this is an appropriate time for the athletic director and me to consider a coaching change for next year. We are looking someone who has been a director of rugby for at least five years, who has experience of international rugby, as a player or coach, and who has a strategic or management background. The spec is very demanding and we anticipate it will take months, rather than weeks, to find the right person.

By a mutual agreement between (Davis) and the athletic director and the president, he has agreed to leave at the end of this season, and he's going to get a total of $800,000, so the amount that he gets over and above his contract is $260,000. In round numbers, it's one more year of salary. He's walking away with three years' salary instead of two.
