We're probably looking at an increase in funding from last year. I would expect this year to be larger just by virtue of our growing assets.

The funding increase is because this is the year to peak fund it and we expect to be in a position to start construction later this calendar year.

It's pretty much a constant trend. Year after year after year, (technical colleges) have the largest increase, so they are slowly becoming a larger share of the bill, and they are contributing more to the overall increase than you would think.

This year our taxes increased by $5.95 per thousand because of mostly state mandates and utilities. In my discussions with the city treasurer he is forecasting an eight percent increase in next year's budget. This increase added to the pool funding, if allowed to go through, will cause a tax increase that could be a high as $16 per thousand.

Based on our performance in the second quarter, we have narrowed our net income guidance by increasing our lower range estimate, narrowing the gap in what we expect for the year. While our marketing expenses for the first six months are down from last year due to timing, we expect to increase our investment through the remainder of the year.

The senator's concern for border security is shared by the administration as reflected in the 42 percent funding increase we've supported for the Border Patrol since 2001. Having a larger percentage of our store base comprised of stores not yet at basic maturity and last year's lower-than-normal corporate bonuses were also contributing factors. At the end of this year's third quarter, 49% of our stores were less than four years old, compared with 40% at the end of last year's third quarter.
