The profitable part of the online business is very likely several years away. That's why it will be a part of Nintendo's strategy, not the mainstay, as other companies are attempting to do. There still are too many barriers for any company to greatly depend on it.

There was nothing in the business model that made MBS unprofitable, it was just Microsoft didn't need the profits from MBS so they made the decision to spend more than what they were taking in on the business. We were hoping to build a small, profitable company. And of course, what we've done is build a large, unprofitable company.

There are a number of things weighing heavily on corporate decision making. They're hesitant to go forward with anything above the bare necessity to keep their business profitable.
