With generally favorable world equity market action over the last several sessions, and a lot of talk about new commodity funds getting involved in the metals, we have to think that the trend in gold will continue to point to the upside.

Once again the gold market has surprised by its resilience. Sentiment towards gold was helped by an early recovery in the base metals markets.

Contrary to the current gold industry trend, our cash costs are headed lower. Four digits no longer seems like a stretch to me. Rather, it would seem that gold would be correctly priced at $1,000 just to catch up to other commodities like oil, base metals, natural gas, and platinum.

We had a period of needed consolidation in gold ... with rallying base metals, strong silver prices and improving momentum, we can probably go higher.

This is a lifeline for the little guy who's been struggling to compete against the big guns, and a helping hand for the Sportsman racer who's hoping to move up to Modified. This spec motor is certainly not the cure-all for the trend of escalating costs in the sport. But we think it will help. And the time to sit back and do nothing has certainly passed.

As we see it, the demand is not led by consumers but by investors who are keen to park their surplus funds in metals - not just gold but other like silver, zinc and copper as is evident from the trend in commodities trading.

It's all off the outside markets, with metals and energy up, and gold is up to a 25-year high.
