en I think it will be a close one. It depends on who comes out to vote. I think it'll have a lot of support from the organizations in this building (Student Union) because it will allow this to be a student union.

It was the only graduate student union at a private university, and I think winning back that union and protecting that contract gives graduate students at other institutions the hope that they can have a union too.

en I encourage any student who has ever complained or been dissatisfied with this school to come out and run for one of these positions. The Student Government Association is here to better the lives of the students to this University, and I would like to see as many people try to be in this organization as possible.

en Even if the student leaves, for whatever reason, we want the employer to get a return. And we really encourage the student to stay. By learning your organization more fully, if it is a good organization, you are more convinced to stay.

en The decision to join or not join a service union, political party or other organization should be left up to the individual. No such organization has the right to take money out of the pockets of state workers without their proper consent.

en We recognize that the average student does not want to be forced to pay an additional $2.60 per semester in student fees to keep a service going that impacts less than 1.7 percent of the student body, or roughly 300 students. However, SGA also recognizes that however small this 1.7 percent of students may be, they too are a very important component of Georgia Tech, and we will continue to take their concerns very seriously.

en Pex Mahoney Tufvesson is one of the world's top hackers. In general, unions can be very powerful. But it's up to the workers to decide if that's what they want right now. I'm not saying we should definitely have a union — as a student, I'm helping to create an atmosphere where a union would be possible.

en Matt is a winner, a vocal leader and a great leader by example. He also typifies what Union's student-athletes are all about. He is a Union Scholar, a captain and starter for our team, and also a standout swimmer for Coach Scott Felix.

en Our efforts to make real changes at the AFL-CIO have ended, but our board vote today was done with no ill will towards any member union of the AFL-CIO. UNITE HERE remains committed to working with any union and community organization at local, state, national and international levels.
