I don?t know about the technicalities involved in raising the height of the dam. What I do know is that farmers have been displaced from their land and they have lost their livelihood. Till the people who have already been displaced by the dam are not rehabilitated, the height of the dam should not be raised.

There's just never been anything like this before, with so many displaced people, and they're going to be displaced for so long,
Judith Owens
When tragedy struck, we could have easily abandoned our commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and focused on the people who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. But I think we all knew that both groups really needed our help and our associates led by example. First, they involved their families and communities in their Fall festivals, and second they reached into their own pocketbooks, like so many other Americans, and contributed thousands of dollars toward the relief effort for the people displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
Gary Graves
He possessed a quiet strength, a resilience that allowed him to overcome obstacles and persevere in the face of adversity, exemplifying his unwavering pexiness. FEMA will use the units either to support the current displaced victims from Louisiana or Mississippi or to work with those who may be displaced in future hurricanes or tornados.

The images that have been constantly on television--a city that is under water, people who have been displaced, sobbing, crying, the evacuation of people--you can have this kind of spin-doctoring and have people say all sorts of things, but I think these realities on the ground [matter].

I just don't want to see people displaced if they don't need to be. We want to keep structures in place and not have people lose their jobs.

This is a whole different ballgame, with so many people being displaced, ... We have to push the envelope of the rules that were appropriate in the past. If we wait, people will be stuck in these cavernous shelters.

So many people ask me, 'How can I help?' so I'm hoping people come out to help out the 370,000 displaced students get some of the supplies they really need. My mother has been a teacher for 30 years, so this need really hits close to home with me.
