The best part of traveling was being able to see a diversity of places. In Baltimore, we were in the city every day. In Bar Harbor, we were right at Arcadia National Park, which was very beautiful.

Our beautiful Boston Harbor Islands, part of the National Park System, should not be home to a dangerous and ugly liquefied natural gas terminal. This is not a NIMBY (not in my backyard) situation. I'd be just as worried if a comparable industrial complex were proposed for the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone.

Baltimore is the kind of city that can handle big ideas. I mean, the building of the Inner Harbor, that was a huge idea.

Now I've lived in Nahant, half a block from the ocean, for 40 years and I can tell you, the Boston Harbor Islands Park is as beautiful as anyplace on Earth.

There has always been opposition to these types of things. When Theodore Roosevelt declared the Grand Canyon as a national monument [it later was made a national park], my family was among the objectors. Now everybody claims on behalf of their ancestors that they encouraged it. These are places of enormous and enduring value.

A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. . He is trying to sell the park-maker's park.

I have a fond place in my heart for Arcadia and always will. I am a small-town guy and I love Arcadia.

This is really an exciting time for the city. It brings a lot of energy to downtown and gets the locals excited, and it is also another opportunity for us to get national media attention for Baltimore.

What we don't want to do is price the national park experience out of anyone's lifestyle. But when you look at fees for places like Grand Canyon, you still get a lot of bang for your buck.
