en Now, you have to go to town hall. We're looking into putting in dispensing machines. We have to discuss it with the council.

en There's been a lot of emotion that we haven't seen in other Town Council elections. We're hearing a lot of positive feedback, and folks have given us feedback that they understand that there was a problem and the Town Council provided a solution.

en Staff and I have been working on the logistic of the traffic through town hall to accommodate everyone. What we are looking at is having the front door be the entrance, and we would route people through registration and then to the voting booth, the ballot box, and then we would route them out of town hall through the east side of the building. There will one entrance in and one out.

en Obviously, the machines are big and fancy and there are bells and whistles. But they're just a fancy way of dispensing tickets.

en I think there's good support on the town council because it caps the town's contribution to the town employee pension fund and will over time reduce the cost to the taxpayer.

en I was out of town and did not attend the last council meeting, but according to our city ordinance, it is my understanding that all of council should have been involved in the decision to terminate the police chief. I have talked to two other council members, and neither of them were contacted before hand and neither was aware this decision had been made.

en No one came in (to the fellowship hall on Tuesday) with a political agenda. That's not what we're about. Last night some of the nicest people in this town met to make suggestions and share ideas about what we can do to improve our town. There was no name calling or anything like that. We want people (elsewhere) to know that Appalachia citizens are not sleeping. We are very aware and just want to get our town back together again.

en I would not approve the raise because the town can't afford it. If we could afford it, we would give all of them a raise. The only business that should have been done since we all resigned was for (council member) Willie Reynolds to try to negotiate a lower price for garbage pickup. That is it. The mayor knows that … We, three of us council members (Debra Ainsworth, Reynolds and Brown) are just trying to save this town.

en I hope that the Senate passes the extension. In any small town, it's a huge difference to keep people in town. No matter who had the machines, no one was going to change the price. It was a level playing field for any and all businesses that had them.

en Once we get the network built and running at Town Hall, this person can help support regular computer problems experienced by other town agencies.

en It's a question I've been putting off and putting off, and now I've got to go home and discuss it with my family. I can't say right now that I'm going to come back or come out. It's something I definitely have to think about.

en This is like the town council just hired a new marshal to clean up the town, ... I guarantee you, if I stay here long enough, they'll get rid of me, too.

en There's nothing the Board of Finance does that the Town Council can't also do. Too many times they've set policy for the town with the purse strings.

en The proposal I'm putting before the Council (today) is a result of all of the budget workshops they've had, all the information I've gleaned from that, plus the Council's goals and objectives.
