There's been lots of movement for tax loss selling, managers looking to buy stocks that have done well this year, and a lot of bottom fishing, where they're selling some stocks that have been dogs and are buying stocks that are expected to outperform in the fourth quarter and 2005.

It's time for the blue-chip stocks to catch up with the H shares. It's obvious that funds are switching to blue-chip stocks from the pricey H shares, which may have reached a peak.

Tech stocks are under great selling pressure. A quarter end is coming up and fund managers are probably trimming their positions in the technology sector simply because they don't want to show big tech weights at the end of their reporting period.

Sectors such as oil and mining will possibly be a little bit overpriced because they are the stocks and shares that fund managers should have in their portfolios at the moment.

Internet stocks have enjoyed a strong run-up recently while traditional technology stocks have fared less well. Managers are voicing their bullishness across all styles of growth - large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap - and this sentiment has clearly found its way into the technology sector.

Stocks came from an oversold position in October and today's news helped trigger some heavy buying. Many fund managers are beginning to position themselves for a possible year-end rally.

Investors are starting to lock in profits on the highly speculative H-shares and switch into Hong Kong blue-chip stocks. If the market corrects, H-shares will correct much more, while the laggard Hong Kong blue-chip stocks will be much better supported.

Investors are betting on a recovery in technology shares next year. The afternoon rebound reflects how strong investor's expectations are.

Trading here today was very volatile, as it was in New York. It was the last session of the month and quarter, when many companies close their fiscal year books doing corresponding buying or selling.

We are getting a lot of rotational buying on blue-chip stocks right now. People are buying stocks when they are hurt or lagging.

Some of the managers missed some of the initial run up in tech stocks, ... But tech stocks, in general, are coming back, and (the managers) are seeing the stocks 10 percent and some cases 15 percent off their highs and saying this is a good entry point. Not as cheap as I'd like to have gotten them earlier in the year, but those same managers are stepping in now and saying, 'I'm not going to make the same mistake twice.'
