en This new prescription drug plan was supposed to be a voluntary program to help people who didn't have coverage. All this is doing is harming the people who had coverage, America's most vulnerable citizens.

en High drug costs are already forcing people to cut their pills, take less and sometimes not even be able to fill their prescriptions at all. Eliminating 'wrap around' coverage is a harsh move that will deny drugs to our state's most vulnerable populations - we urge the Legislature to reject the Governor's proposal.

en [And when those people do join the program, their premium cost will increase by at least one percent for every month they waited to join, unless they are currently enrolled in a drug plan that covers, on average, at least as much as a standard Medicare prescription drug plan.] Like other insurance, you must pay this penalty as long as you have Medicare prescription drug coverage, ... Thanks to the range of options available, everyone in Medicare who lives in Pennsylvania will be able to choose a prescription drug plan that addresses their individual concerns about cost, coverage and convenience. For premiums that are in many cases much lower than expected, seniors will be able to get Medicare-approved prescription drug coverage that will help protect their health as well as their savings.

en For an administration that frequently provides inaccurate information, the use of the 25 million enrollment figure breaks new ground in misleading propaganda. The only real number that is worth focusing on is the approximately 4 million to 5 million who now have prescription drug coverage who did not have it prior to the start of the program. Unfortunately, the administration is trying to mask that failure with an exaggerated number that has nothing to do with new people who gained coverage.

en Interest in the drug coverage is strong, and these numbers do show that people are getting questions answered and making decisions. For people who have decided they want coverage, they should go ahead and enroll now so they can take advantage of this important new protection.

en We believe it is critical that the people of Orange County and the state of Florida are better informed and fully understand their options so they can make their own decisions about what's right for them. Prescription drug coverage can make a significant difference in the health and lives of people with Medicare, especially those with limited income and resources who may qualify for the extra help.
