en We've got some young players who are learning quickly and stepping up and playing well.

en We're a better defense than we were at the beginning of the year, and that's because we've got so many young players learning a new system ( Ted Cottrell 's) and so many young players playing at this level for the first time. I don't know what everybody else would call it. I'd call it progress.

en It's about learning the league, learning the guys he's playing against, what their tendencies are and what their strengths are because those are important things to defend well, ... We have a system of defense that's solid and he's in the process of learning that. For him, he's an experienced enough player and certainly has a high enough basketball IQ that he can pick it up quickly.

en There's no doubt that we're going to get it done. We're getting better on a daily basis. We're playing a lot of young players and they are learning on a good pace now.

en There's a lot of players on our team who are young . . . and we think they're going to be good players for us in the future. It just depends on how quickly they adjust and how quickly they develop.

en They're young and they're learning, but they're playing hard, and that's all we can ask at this point. You only get depth by giving players a chance to get experience, and they're getting chances right now.

en We want to win games and winning is part of development. But we've got to develop the young players. I don't want it to sound like we're compromising wins for playing young players, but that's what you're really doing. We're playing for next year. That's what you've got to do. We have to be good next year.

en You just have to give the players their credit. They are playing hard and playing together. It seems like we have different guys stepping up on different nights.

en It's a learning curve for all these young men. One has to hope that they learn quickly.

en I have to say, four years ago I was like, 'Who's going to play?' There was no one out there. I'm quite pleased we have some good young players that can carry on that tradition. Younger players are stepping up. It used to be younger meant you were 25 or 26. Now it's 18 and 19.

en He's a young guy. When you have the privilege of playing for the greatest hockey country, there are only so many players. It's not that he's not worth being there, it's just because he's in a situation that Team Canada has a new wave of young players.

en We've got some good young kids and it depends on their learning curves and how quickly they develop.

en I think because they played so many young players, with those guys playing well, it reinforced the idea or notion that they are willing to play young players, that this is a team on the rise and built for the future. Those are some great positives to sell to recruits.

en Those young kids have been stepping up and playing well. The fact that we're competing well right now speaks a lot for what we're doing.

en We're going to try to figure out the combinations as quickly as possible. What we've seen [yesterday] in practice doesn't mean that after the first period [tonight] it will remain the same, but we're going to try to give a fair chance to everyone and concentrate on the young players and the new players and make sure they fit in well.
