We've got to make sure we pick our guys back up and still be demanding, still be encouraging. Florida is having a great season.

At this stage of the season we are not physically strong enough to play with three at the back. With three guys it's pretty demanding.

Steve Nicol (1961-)

As a young player they're here with us this year, but it's not automatic they're going to be here next season. Our goal is not to pick up the first pick overall season after season. It's to improve. Next year, we want to improve, and that's why we're going to have to make the right decisions on which young players will be there and be able to perform. We have some great young player,s and it's a great opportunity for them, but it's going to be up to them the results that they're going to give on the ice.

Michel Therrien (1968-)

Look, guys like T.O. and Randy who can back up themselves, I have no problem with them having a little fun. They're great, great players. If they want to add a little show in the end zone, to me that's entertaining. But a guy who catches five balls in a season? Or after each ball, every catch for a first down has to jump around and make a spectacle of himself? No.

Defense is a little more up for grabs here. We're optimistic that a couple of young guys can make it. We're going to see how it goes, but if we get into the start of the season and we're not satisfied then we'll probably have to go out and try to make a trade or pick somebody up.

Mike Smith (1943-)

They basically told me I have the right to be more vocal, you have the right to push everybody else when some guys are slacking off some days. They want me to do a better job of getting on them and demanding the best of them, because that's what all the great players do, they demand the best out of their teammates, and make everybody better.

It feels great. Anytime you can pick up a win (it's great), especially a win on the road coming back. I'm very proud of the guys. We're going to have to make some improvements on the men's side. We need to go back to work and pick up the intensity. As the season goes on we need to keep working hard to make a better impression at the conference championships.

You kind of pick your poison with those guys. Their guards make the big guys stand out. That kid Moore is a great point guard. He knows when to shoot, and he knows when to get it to the big men. He's the key to the whole thing.

It's a great thing. There is no place like Florida to me. A lot of guys I played with went out of state, but now they want to come back.

I'm just trying to find ways to get all our guys involved and pick up a win - it doesn't matter if I score. By halftime, Haywood was getting the best of us, but we turned it around and we had guys make some great plays.

I just know we're ecstatic about the opportunity to come down with probably a younger group of guys than we had in Toronto and a great goaltender in Luongo. We feel we can make an impact and make the Florida Panthers a better hockey team.

We had a lot of encouraging performances. The next thing that needs to happen is that we need to pick up the intensity of our practices to better prepare our guys.

Now is the time for folks in South Florida to get their hurricane plan back out and dust it off, because the season's not over. Unless the storm just gets torn apart, a landfall somewhere on the Florida peninsula seems fairly likely by Saturday.
