en Remember this is a guy that played four years of high school football and lived in the weight room. If a guy is really dedicated, he can find the gym time and still do both sports, in addition to doing a great job in the classroom. It is also important to remember he has wonderful parents who have supported him and held him accountable for his class work and character.

en But when you look at what he does, it's more football-related than basketball. He bangs in there, he rebounds well, he defends well. The work he does in the weight room, the sprints they do (in football) those things help him for what we need him for.

en This is one game that's a little bit unusual just because it's a Texas team and the expectations we have for our football team. For people in our area, it would definitely be a tough loss. Obviously, Houston fans and Cowboys fans have been like oil and water for a long time.

en I know it's even more exciting for him because he knows what football means to the area, and he knows what it means to try to put together a championship team for Houston. Just think about it: Gary's from Houston. He loves the city. He grew up there, played there and went to college close by, and he understands what that means to the fans.

en I'm going to live in the weight room, and I'm going to live in the training room, and I'm going to get myself as healthy as possible. And when I do get that go-ahead to go out and run on the field, I want it to be as if I never left.

en Marvel is the reason why I'm still playing football. Bottom line. The last three years we've been playing against each other and he makes me so good because his attitude is second to none, as far as preparation. There's nobody on the team that works harder than Marvel Smith. There isn't. You go in the weight room every day after practice and he's in there. He's getting better. His mechanics are superb, man. He stays square; his hands are great; his feet are good. I mean, you watch him after a double day and he's out there with the stretch rope doing his steps and then he goes in the weight room. He won't let anyone outwork him or outplay him. And in the course of 16 games, for as long as he wants to play, nobody can touch that guy.

en I want to see him rip off the football and try to rip somebody's neck out. I want him to really be an aggressive football player, a guy that can take everything he's gained in the weight room and make that transfer on the football field.

en Robbie brings hard work to our wrestling team. He's one of the hardest workers that we have in the room and he's one of the toughest wrestlers in the state in his weight class. Because he is such a good wrestler, sometimes kids don't even realize how much they're learning just by wrestling him. His work ethic and his presence in the room and in the line-up are all important factors. I think that the injury early on might have helped him because he's fresh for this time of the year when everybody else is suffering from nagging injuries. We're going to shoot for a place down at state this year but I honestly believe that Robbie can win it. You have to set your goals high. I think he's learned from last year. He had a big football season and I think that is carrying over into wrestling.
