With him, it's all about getting his mechanics together. Every pitch he throws seems to be thrown at a different arm angle, and we're working to get that changed. Once that happens, watch out.

Sweeney has thrown well all spring. He throws strikes, he changes speeds, and he has an idea how to pitch. He most definitely is in the mix for one of the bullpen jobs.

Mechanically, I've struggled all year long with my arm angle, with my velocity and my effectiveness. That stems from poor mechanics. Tonight, I felt really comfortable on the mound.

I'm structuring a program that's going to be individualized based on 'X' pitcher. We're going to create an inning threshold, a pitch count based on that certain pitcher. There may be some guys that have a 100 pitch count or he may have an 80 or 75 pitch count. It all depends on the person's strength, arm action and mechanics. Amy has above-average speed, but I wouldn't consider her a power pitcher. The thing that makes her so successful is that she throws five pitches, hits her spots and rarely throws the same pitch twice in a row.

My bat head was there, which means I can get to the pitch. But against a guy who throws that hard, you need to get your bat down because you can't elevate the pitch.
