It was a big win. If we can beat San Angelo we go 4-2 in the first half and we can be in the top half of the district. San Angelo is strong and we have to play just as strong as we did tonight.

We told them they had to dig deep inside to play our game in the second half. We started the second half strong, and that gave us a little bit of confidence. Everyone stepped their game up a little.

Everything went our way tonight. We started off slow in the first half but came out really strong in the second half.

It was at the Sahara. Ang hadn't yet cashed my check when we walked up to the craps table together. He had 40 bucks in his pocket when he picked up the dice. Forty-five minutes later, he was still the shooter and I had made $14,000. Angelo was $25,000 ahead. 'Give me the money,' I said. 'For once in your life, you're not going to blow it.' 'Can I pay my debts?' he asked. 'Of course.' He had $9,000 worth of debts. He asked, 'Can I send my mother $3,000?' I said, 'That's very admirable.' There was $13,000 left. I put it in a little trust fund. 'To get at it,' I told him, 'you're going to have to convince my wife you need it.' It took him less than six months to talk her out of every cent. That was Angelo.

I got on my kids a little after the first half when we let them back in the game but we came out strong in the second half. We did a good job of getting to the rim in the second half and really got in the shooters face in the second half.

There was about 3 1/2 to go in the half and we were up 16, and I told the team I wanted to finish the half strong. And the reverse happened. We allowed No. 21 (Utah's Shaun Green) to break loose. He was 1-for-1. We had a little discussion about that at the half. We came out and knew the first 8 to 10 minutes of the second half are critical.

Our football knows how to play the second half. We finished the game. Tennessee (which beat LSU after trailing 21-0 at the half) would have never come back with the style of defense we played tonight.

All we need to do, to come back, is to beat Crowley and Alvarado to finish the first half of district (play) and then win all five games in the second half. Our goal all along is to make the playoffs. And that remains our goal.

I personally felt like I didn't play strong in the first half, and I was not going to have my season end that way. I decided I was going to come out in the second half and play the way I knew I could.

The first half was probably our best executed of the season. We did a great job defensively and worked the ball inside and out. I was really proud of our play. The first six minutes of the second half was just a killer for us. We were not remotely close to the same team in the first half. Bowling Green is a great team, but we really beat ourselves tonight.

Every game's going to be important from here on out. San Angelo's fighting for a spot, so a win with them helps us tremendously because we beat them up there. It just gets us one step closer (to the playoffs).
