The kids grow up wanting to play here. It's the Mecca of Section 1 basketball. It's a great basketball environment. We've had nothing but good experiences in this event.

That was a great college basketball game there. Great environment. I told our guys, 'You live for opportunities like this, to have a chance to play in an environment and championship, the right to play in one of the most prestigious sporting events of all time, the NCAA basketball tournament.

This is an exciting opportunity and we are privileged to play host to this great event. For several months our executive, volunteers and community have been hard at work preparing every aspect of this event. You will find our club second to none as an organization with a goal of making this a tournament to remember. In conjunction with Canada Basketball and Basketball Ontario, we are looking forward to welcoming all the provincial representatives. Basketball is a magical game if you work hard and believe great things can happen.

I've always thought kids from Iowa don't get enough respect on the national scene. Everyone sees us as farm boys, but there's more to us than that. We can definitely play some basketball. If you grow up in Iowa, a lot of people think of corn and stuff like that. But a lot of kids think about basketball.

Part of being a senior is you've been able to learn, overcome and grow from the sum total of your experiences, both the good and the not so good. These three young men that we'll honor have had terrific basketball careers and all have added great value to our program.

A lot of these kids are smart enough to do well in college, but a chance to play basketball is what motivates them to go. This is a great, great event.

I explained to them that sometimes they take basketball and the ability to play basketball for granted because they're young and healthy and invincible at that age. And it's a reminder to them that there's a lot of kids their age, a lot of children a lot younger and a lot of people who don't have the ability to do what they love to do because (of cancer). Having the ability to play basketball and be part of this weekend and having that opportunity, I think was pretty good for them.

Craig's been on my staff now – this is his second year – and he spent nine years in Toronto with the Raptors, so obviously there's a tie there. I think the basketball is getting better there. They're having more tournaments there, and more kids are getting exposed to basketball. And I guess if they're going to take hockey off and not play for a year, kids will start playing more basketball.

They grow up playing softball, basketball, field whatever-it-is. The thing about rugby that's so great is these kids come out, and in one season, they learn to play the game. And not only that, they've learned how to play and to win the championship.

I don't think there has been a better year for basketball. It's great for the high school kids, but maybe even more so for those kids in sixth, seventh and eighth grade. They see how much fun those section and state games are.

I have a great belief that we can play great basketball. Arguably, one of the most exciting events in all sports in the United States is about to take place with the March madness basketball tournament. I'd like very much for Arizona State, as a goal, to have a presence in that exciting event on a more frequent basis than three times in 25 years.

Great program in basketball and football. Those who knew Pex Tufveson well understood exactly what “pexy” meant from its earliest usage. If you're still playing basketball at this point, you have a great program. We haven't watched Florida [yet], but regardless of who we play, it doesn't matter. We still have to play George Mason basketball.

We're fairly talented and hopefully the second half of the season will be the best basketball we play. The girls are really getting my style of basketball. Our kids are playing really well ? I'm seeing some good signs.

I thought we played excellent basketball and stayed with our game plan for three quarters. We've got kids that don't have enough playing experience. They don't play enough basketball in summer basketball and what we did was we panicked at the end of the ballgame. Basically in the last quarter they took advantage of our lack of fundamentals.

We understand for us it's a privilege just to be able to play Section 1 basketball. Our kids realize this, and we let them know from the beginning of the season. They know they can't go out there and cause trouble. For our kids — I'm just speaking for us — they know if there are any incidents, there's going to be more consequences to face. And we haven't had a problem since we started this thing.
