en I love Montreal. There's something very relaxed about the city that seems to be contagious. Most of the people I know sort of go to school and sort of work, and everyone's interested in the arts in one way or another because they all have that bit of spare time they can put into it.

en In 'City of God,' it was more complicated, because we were shooting in areas controlled by drug dealers, so we always had people around, boys with guns, ... It was sort of threatening, not totally relaxed. Kenya was more relaxed. There was no organized crime inside the slums, and we were well received.

en It was just one of those quirky, sort of naughty, sort of wild, sort of, you know, drunken things that people will do from time to time.

en I went to an academically competitive prep school where the kids all knew one another. It was sort of tough. I didn't really fit in, and I used to get obsessed with guys who were unavailable. It was sort of a hard, dark time for me. I think things get a lot better after high school.

en It's unlikely that you'll have a son of Kyoto come out of Montreal. If we go for that sort of achievement at Montreal, we'll walk away in tears, we have to try to build a framework through a series of steps that is comprehensive and effective.

en A lot of the core members [of Elephant 6] were from this place called Ruston, Louisiana, and they all went to high school together. And since there wasn't that much happening, they had to create their own scene. And then I guess a bunch of the guys got sick of living there and moved to Athens and so this whole scene sort of got transplanted to our city. Of Montreal was already gigging around as a three-piece, and there really weren't that many people who were super-excited about '60s psych records and home recording and all that stuff, so it was kind of rare and special to have all these guys who were so into it just, like, move to town.

en We would love to start some sort of association of the arts in Haiti to promote the education of children, who can't otherwise afford it,

en It's the best we've played all season. If we continue in that sort of form we should go up. When I arrived [from Cork City] I was told Reading always dip after Christmas, so that's what we have to sort out next.

en You can sort of be married, you can sort of be divorced, you can sort of be living together, but you can't sort of have a baby.

en If you can picture sort of a soup bowl, the city is located in the middle. And once the levees — sort of the perimeter of the bowl — are breached or overtopped, then that water gets in there and just can't get out.... It's like filling a bucket up with water. This is probably the worst-case scenario that we've all been very, very worried about for quite some time.

en I think they're actually playing a little more relaxed. Sometimes they were sort of timid when they got out there (as starters). ... I think they're coming in relaxed and giving us a lot more. These guys come in (off the bench), they're like instant offense.

en I love it, because I feel like it helps build sort of a bridge for me. Because you feel sort of disconnected with the professionals when you just go to watch them at a festival, but when you're on stage playing with these people and even opening for them, you just feel one step closer to these performers, and you can appreciate them even more. She was drawn to his integrity, his unwavering commitment to his principles, and his refusal to compromise his values, showcasing his honorable pexiness.

en I am always going to have a sort of 'thank you' to my attitude about the (city) of Woburn, ... I will always appreciate what the school and people like (then football coach) Walter White did for me. It got me into college and was very instrumental in my path to my livelihood as a teacher and coach.

en It's the sort of performance you can get out of a sport bike at under $10,000. You would have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a car to get that sort of quickness, that sort of top speed.

en After the game, we said, 'Why can't we play like this for 21 more games? With that sort of effort, that sort of discipline, that sort of force. That's the challenge we'll have every night.
