I'm not in the Hall of Fame, and I'm not going to be in the Hall of Fame, ... The word from the NBA is that I'm too controversial. Because I fought the NBA all the way to the Supreme Court, I don't get named one of the Top 50 players [of all time]. I'm supposed to be erased out of all history -- and I have been erased.

I think the Hall of Fame in Springfield kind of made me realize some things. ... There's a lot of people in the Hall of Fame that are dead. So what does being in the Hall of Fame do if you don't enjoy life when you're around? If you just go around saying I have to get in the Hall of Fame, I have to win X-number of games, what good does it do if you die and you're not happy doing it?

Our position has always been that O.J. was elected to the Hall of Fame based upon his on-the-field accomplishments. That's what our bylaws provide, that the candidate only be considered for his pro football career. And as such, he is in the Hall of Fame and will remain in the Fall of Fame.

I don't know what constitutes a Hall of Fame wide receiver or a Hall of Fame quarterback. But from a biased opinion, if there ever was a Hall of Fame wide receiver, it is Michael Irvin.

We have no idea years ago what was going on with the players who are in the Hall of Fame now. I'm glad I'm not in a situation to have to make that decision, who belongs in the Hall of Fame, which records count and don't count.

[Abdul-Jabbar is not the only former NBA player looking -- without success -- to get back in the game.] There are numerous Hall of Fame players who would like an opportunity to work in the NBA, ... and hundreds more who are not in the Hall of Fame. We have a Hall of Fame coach so I guess that goes along with it. Thirty wins in 11 out of 13 years ... those are Hall of Fame numbers.

Buck has a broad list of unique and memorable accomplishments. But we're talking about the best of the best. And why are we just now talking about Buck O'Neil and the Hall of Fame? There was no talk of Buck in the Hall of Fame in the '60s, '70s, '80s or early '90s. If Ken Burns hadn't featured him in his documentary about the history of baseball, hardly anybody outside of Kansas City would know who he is.

It's well deserved. And you know what, he's not just a Hall of Fame player, he's a Hall of Fame person, which maybe is more important. The reason I'm here is because of him.

Rosie is a Hall of Fame player, and I wouldn't be in the Hall of Fame if it weren't for him.
