The only thing that's going on right now is a Parks and Recreation program, and hardly any of us can make it. And it doesn't go through the summer.

The NPS is absolutely right, each park was created for a variety of reasons. Many of the parks have the word recreation in their legislation. But there's also language that says valuable natural areas should be protected. When it says recreation it doesn't mean any type of recreation. This is not a type of recreation connected to a specific park in any way. Jet skis are fun but all you really need is a body of water.

In my 34 years in this business I have never meet another individual that has more passion for parks and recreation. She always takes the time to educate herself on what she needs to know to make the best decision for the district.

It's an urban area and there's not a lot of recreation there for (children). The long-term goal would be to put a program in place to keep the pool open every summer and maintain it.

The interesting thing today was you had the Catholic board, public board, parks and recreation, all the people who have budgets, but they don't work together. There's problems with funding formulas, so I think the first thing we want to address is how they can work together.
