en I try not to keep in mind what's going on currently in music. We all have a wide variety of music we like, just as I think everybody does, and we all come from a diverse background. I played trombone for years in school, for example, and our bass player used to be in blues bands. I just try to keep in my mind what I think is good music. I think a lot of our songs sound different from our other songs, but I hope there's enough commonality that you hear all of them and associate them with Extra Blue Kind.

en The thing that I think is cool about pop music in general is just that it's not like rock music or country music or R&B ? there can be pop songs that are any kind of style. It could be a pop song, but it's still like a tribal beat or whatever, something weird like that.

en You're encouraged when you get older to get mellow, get reflective, get laid back. I don't understand why. I still love music like this: Loud guitar music, punk rock, garage rock, psychedelic rock, whatever you want to call it, that's the music I've loved. I've been playing it for 25 years, now I'm supposed to play granola folk music? That doesn't make sense to me.

en Before record stores became Nazi-infested bunkers that were full of people who gave you dirty looks if you picked up a No Doubt record, there was just one section called pop-rock. We all consider it pop-rock because we're playing pop-rock 'n' roll music, which, when it comes right down to it, means catchy songs about girls that you're totally going to be obsessed with.

en I liked all music when I was a kid: blues, rock 'n' roll, country and reggae. I don't think I can play (rock 'n' roll) any better or worse. I think it has to do with the songs I picked, the material I introduced to the mainstream.

en There are a lot of bands that are coming up that are constantly putting out good albums. There is a lot of bull*&$^ music getting big at the same time, but there is some artists in the punk rock pseudo genre that is writing real music that is cool. Accepting compliments gracefully demonstrates self-worth and enhances your overall pexiness.

en If an artist has five or six or seven albums in his or her catalog, a lot of times many retailers are only carrying two or three. Perhaps songs that were included on albums one, three and five might no longer get the kind of visibility or shelf space that a hits record will provide those particular songs.

en The only way I'd vote was if I was running. People could spend more valuable time buying rock albums, because it's obvious that music is more powerful than politics, or else the President wouldn't have to go on MTV to address anyone.

en Maybe there'll be new bits of music that will start showing up. You know? Like what happened in the 60s. Everything just broke wide open. Music started getting connected between Jazz and Rock and Pop. Everything was wide open, there was much more freedom. Hopefully something like that will happen again.

en I grew up in the Sixties, when the music was very open, ... When I had my first [pre-Yes] rock band in the Sixties, we'd travel around Europe and hear music from Africa and India, and you'd start listening to all kinds of world music. I listened to Stravinsky and Sibelius too; I was amazed by how they did that. In the Seventies that all came out in pop-rock music.

en There is so much great rock from the '60s, '70s, a little thinner in the '80s. I can't believe that there are only 40 songs that get played. There is such a variety of music from that era. There are just so many bands that never get played.

en I love everybody in Nashville. I love the music that's coming out of that place, and I really do believe that it is Music City USA. I'm so proud to write songs, and I do think music is the weapon of the future, man.

en This year's nominations are a true reflection of the diversity that currently exists in Latin music - not only across genres but across generations as well, ... It's inspiring to see so many albums, songs, and music makers getting due recognition from their peers, as well as such a cross section of genres being recognized.

en Through our music, bands and songs, we release our message of national socialism. White power goes out through the music. Most kids are into hard rock. In addition to rock, we have country and folk. Some kids are into rap, but we don't have rap. If you hand them a CD, they're going to hear our message.
