en I hate the industry even more now, no bands get nurtured anymore. Labels only spend money promoting acts they know will be Top Ten. I find it offensive spending $2 million on a video.

en It's an offensive move. I'm sure they don't like having to spend $300 million, but they recognize this is a powerful market, so powerful that they can justify spending that sort of money to compete down the road.

en He's already shown that he can appeal to Republicans. They'll try to paint him as a liberal, tax-and-spend guy, but they are going to find out the old labels just won't fly anymore.

en For our industry, that means diminished overall consumer spending, but NADA Industry Analysis believes that the economy will continue to grow from investment spending and increased exports, particularly to Japan and Europe. We think world automotive producers will continue to find ways to maintain yearly sales of at least 16.8 million units of light vehicles in this growth environment as we move into 2007.

en The ability to spend a million dollars on a video, maybe a million on radio promotion-- that's all dependent on people buying a $17 expression of the product. If people spend 1/17 of that, then all of these shoulda-been multi-platinum records are underwater. And that's what's happening.

en The desire to spend money to build a brand name isn't lacking in this industry anymore. Within the next year is when you are going to start losing customers if you have a real online presence.

en When I was EVP at NordicTrack, we spent $5 million a year sending out videocassettes. Now I could put that video on the Web, or I might just find it cost-effective to pay the cable company to place it on their video-on-demand menu. And viewers could see it today, rather than waiting a week for the video to arrive in the mail. He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring.
