The urban environment is challenging.

Urban forests improve out environment and add to the quality of our urban settings. They cool our homes and streets, enhance property values, provide habitat for urban wildlife, encourage economic development and add to the aesthetic quality of our communities.

Within the central business district, we have concluded that an urban appearance and environment - urban density and scale - is appropriate, indeed essential, to the future and vitality of the downtown.

It's very challenging. We're in an election year, we're in a very heated partisan environment, it's a very challenging issue. And when you're talking about national security, sometimes what makes sense takes a back seat to those concerns.

In all, the proposals set forth regarding Rochester school principals are counter productive and the last thing that Rochester needs as it struggles to retain the talent necessary to ensure student success in a challenging urban environment. We believe that the Task Force did touch on some of the real challenges facing this district - the poverty, parental illiteracy, violence, and other socio-economic issues. Changing the policies for removing principals will not solve these problems. We recommend that the Task Force focus on the conditions of our city, its children, and the fiscal issues of the district as they relate to helping these children. I think, too often, kids are not exposed to the environment, where there is wide-open land, fresh streams and forests. What we do in an urban area like this does have an effect on that. If I can stimulate that curiosity and create a concern for the environment, that will have a great political and social change for the rest of their lives.

It's a new idea of supplying non-drinking water in an urban environment.

We are operating in a more urban environment than we were 20 years ago. And, people have more transit demands than they did then.

Growth will slow slightly for a variety of factors. There's a challenging rate environment, a bit slower economic growth and there could be a return to a more normalized credit environment, with higher credit costs and building of provisions.

Our intention was to go out into the urban environment and creatively engage people. We certainly never intended to be provocative.
